In a sign that a major health care reform is coming in 2009, on Wednesday Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), the chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee and one of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate, released a healthcare reform blueprint that goes even further than what Barack Obama has proposed. Like Obama's proposal, Baucus' plan would set up a competitive market pitting private and public insurance options against each other and require insurance companies to provide coverage to everyone, regardless of previous or pre-existing conditions. But while Obama's plan required mandatory health insurance only for children, Baucus' plan would guarantee health insurance for all Americans.
I can see maybe one little portion here that I would not oppose the rest looks like it is more beaurocratic imposition. They are enforcing regulations to force us to pay into these insurance companies much like we do with car insurance. This will keep costs down? Not for any company I worked for. I think we are in for a lot more headache.
i think its great. roarrrrrrrrrrrrrr go dems
Can you not see that this is nothing more than a way to expand a system that will only ensure the growth of a predatory nature by feeding more money into this money hungry industry. It is eliminating concepts of charity and competition which will help make it affordable. Instead we still pay only not when we walk into the office. It is almost proving Karl Marx right in that the invisible hand of Capitalism is Greed by feeding into the greed of pharmaceutical companies etc...
We push regulation onto the citizens and cater to these corporations who want nothing more than to continue charging high prices.
The slight element of transparency in this is good, but the rest is complacency attempting to keep prices high and not allow it to go the way of a free market which will render prices lower if we would stop regulating and federal catering. Why should health care be affordable? The Fed will foot the bill by taking it from us. That shows so much greed.
We force employers to pay for what some may not be able to afford that drives prices of products up. We force employers to foot the bill that makes it more difficult for smaller companies to hire. Don't we want employment? It's not Democrats verses Republicans it is Large drug companies verses our wallets. We want to cut costs then giving more money does not help with that.
Let's see affordable health care = more money? What? Wait a minute this seems more like redistributing the payment. You will still see it on your W-2 or out of your check come payday.
Insurance in supposed to be for Just in case something happens. So why is it we need it for things that we plan on happening and are going to happen like routine check ups?
Insurance: from www.m-w.com
1 a: the business of insuring persons or property b: coverage by contract whereby one party undertakes to indemnify or guarantee another against loss by a specified contingency or peril c: the sum for which something is insured2: a means of guaranteeing protection or safety <the contract is your insurance against price changes>
peril, protection or safety? Against a physical or routine doctor visits? Paying for these high prices does not bring it down and the fact we insure for this stuff only perpetuates the problem. Insurance is not a way to pay for things you know are certain, or at least it should not be.
roarrrrrrr No dems or repubs just go Citizens of the United States of America and in this case go deeper into your pocketbooks.
My preferance is a pipe dream and would actually it will hurt the insurance industry but I would get rid of it all together. Its a middleman that does not benefit us and is hurting our national healthcare.
People would buy into the local hospital(s)/clinic/primary care physician, let them make desicions about outsourcing of services. End result? Hospitals and doctors would see all that profit that the insurance companies siphon off the top.
I much prefer this concept...
